It was renamed in 1927 to honor naval veterans of The United States Navy. Re-imagined in 1995 under Mayor Richard M. Daley, Navy Pier has over 50 acres of shops, restaurants, live theatres, parks, and convention halls. Polk Brothers Park is a 13-acre green space that serves as the Pier’s gateway and the city’s front lawn. Navy Pier’s Festival Hall is the main exhibition space that encompasses over 170,000 square feet hosting art shows, concerts and numerous other highly attended events. Navy Pier is one of the most visited attractions in the entire Midwest and Chicago’s second most visited tourist attraction with over 8 Million Visits in 2025.
