Our Mission
ILEA Chicago is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in ways that align with our mission of creating collaboration, education, and inspiration within the live event industry. Diversity, equity, and inclusion complement our other organizational values of creativity, inspiration, teamwork, education, and relationships. To further the integration of these values, we have created our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force.
Diversity
We welcome and value diversity in its broadest possible view, going beyond visible differences to celebrate each person’s uniqueness, and encourage an organizational culture that can be an example to the event community that we serve. We recognize that diversity includes age; ethnicity; gender; gender identity; language differences; nationality; parental status; physical, mental, and developmental abilities; race; religion; sexual orientation; skin color; socioeconomic status; education; and more.
Equity
Equity transcends fairness, creating an environment that ensures equal access and opportunity for everyone.
Inclusion
Inclusion puts the concept and practice of diversity into action by creating spaces that support equal and active participation, mutual respect, and connection.
Our Goal
Our goal is to broaden the spectrum of diversity within our chapter; throughout our membership, programming, communications, and chapter leadership. We strive to reimagine our network of event professionals, friends, co-workers, and business partners to reach a place of true diversity and equity on all levels within our industry and within our organization. The DEI Task Force aspires to be the lens of our organizational goal to be a smarter, more diverse team. The Task Force was created to lead this initiative for long-term change in procedures, decision-making processes, and allocation of resources to ensure that ILEA Chicago is more diverse, equitable, and inclusive in serving our members and our community.
