Tell us a bit about yourself…
Balloons By Tommy started over 20 years ago when I was learning my craft in high school. Over the course of the past 6 years, we have had some amazing growth that has allowed our company to expand throughout Chicago and Southern California while still maintaining top quality art in our field.
Who/ what inspired you to go into Balloon Decor
I have always loved the magic of balloons. When I was a child, my parents took me to a convention that featured balloon professionals from around the world. I was so inspired by the artists and work that I knew it would be my life’s calling, at about 8 years old.
Tell us one thing we might not learn about you right away?
I have two dogs… just kidding I’d probably tell you all about them within 1 minute of meeting you, haha (follow them at @daegonanddandie)
What do you love the most about what you do?
I love to see our clients react to what we do. It’s an awesome feeling to put our hearts into our work and have people love and appreciate it.
Where did you grow up?
In the suburbs of Chicago (Elk Grove Village)
What's your event gone wrong horror story?
Here at Balloons by Tommy, events never go wrong! ;) Although, one of the most surprising event issues was when we went to set up an event at a huge inflatable sports dome… and it was no longer standing! A major storm rolled through and had popped it. I stood there staring at it super confused for about 10 minutes before it registered what happened. Luckily it was nice outside and there was an outdoor venue next door they could use!
What made you interested in participating in ILEA?
Being a part of ILEA is something that we had wanted to do for years. We have heard from event planners and fellow vendors that it was a great organization that could boost business, create new opportunities to get to know more about the professionals in our two cities and spark motivation.
